The Greenbrier River Trail is located closest to your stay, and the Meadow River Rail Trail is newly opened, with the most popular trailhead located in Rainelle. Both trails follow flat gravel paths through dense forest with sweeping views of the Greenbrier and Meadow rivers, respectively. Hikers and bikers welcome. Don't forget to pack a lunch! Looking for a swimming hole? Check out Blue Bend for a flat stone beach and Bahama blue waters. From White Sulphur Springs, take State Route 92 north 8 miles, turn left at Alvon onto State Route 16, and go 4 miles to the recreation area. This popular Monongahela National Forest has parking, picnic spots, playgrounds and restrooms.
For the super-adventurous, The Greenbrier Off-Road Adventures is worth doing. West Virginia's backcountry is calling, and they’ve got a ride to match your adventure level. Take on 10,000 acres of rock, root and hill terrain in a Jeep Wrangler or a four-seat Polaris RZR. Prefer pavement? Cruise the countryside in a two-seat, open-air Slingshot, available for half- or full-day trips.
