Where the Wild Things Love Itinerary
Love doesn't always look like candlelight and roses. Sometimes it resembles muddy hiking boots, gentle rivers and sparkling campires.

Check In Day: Base camp for your wild escape is something special in its own right. Nestled in the landscape and open to the sky, you’ll find your glamping dome. The Riverstead or the WV Glamping Domes are the dome properties with all of the amenities. Fall asleep beneath a canopy of stars, wake to birdsong and morning mist, and step outside each day feeling genuinely restored.
Day 1: Now you have options. You can begin the day underground or along the river. But after a quick stop at Fruits of Labor in Alderson for breakfast, of course.
If you choose underground, head to Lost World Caverns for a self-guided tour of the cave and hold on stalag-tight to the person beside you- wink, wink. Want to push the limits? Book a guided caving tour that takes you three miles beyond the marked trail and deep into the cave's untouched passages. Crawl, climb, and explore by headlamp as you venture into complete darkness for unforgettable extreme adventure.
If you choose beside the river, rent a bike from Greenbrier Outfitters, pick up a lunch from Fien’s Deli, and cycle alongside the flowing Greenbrier River until you find a rhododendron-covered picnic table to enjoy your picnic.
Insider Tip: Have some time left? Stop for a swim in warmer months about a mile from the Caldwell Trailhead, where you’ll find a large flat rock ideal for sunbathing or a nice wade in the refreshing waters.
When evening rolls in, check out Hill and Holler for brick-oven baked pies and enjoy a local craft beer on tap.
Day 2: Woods or Water? Begin the morning with a bagel sandwich from Corn + Flour. Choose a hike in the Greenbrier State Forest or kayak the Greenbrier River with help from your buddies over at Greenbrier Outfitters. Lunch options nearby include Taco, Taco for a quick, authentic taqueria bite, or Gustards Bistro for a more sit-down-style lunch while enjoying the fresh air on the covered deck. If you have had enough on-the-go moments, make a bonfire at your glamping dome and relax underneath the sky- just the two of you after a refreshing margarita and California Burrito from Del Sol.
Check-Out Day: If your last morning ends on a Sunday, stop by Hawk Knob for their delicious brunch with outdoor seating among the hills of Appalachia for a sweet goodbye before your journey back.
