CVB Holds Cooperative Grant Training

May 28, 2015

Lewisburg, WV – The Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) will hold a training workshop for its Cooperative Advertising Mini-Grant Program at 10 a.m. on June 9. The session will be held in the Rahall Conference Room at the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center in downtown Lewisburg. Any organization that is interested in obtaining marketing funds to use toward a tourism-related project should plan to attend.

Since 2002, the Greenbrier County CVB has set aside a portion of its budget to invest in tourism related community events and initiatives, awarding up to $2000 per project. Those eligible to apply include two or more businesses or a non-profit doing business in Greenbrier County. The goal of the mini-grant is to increase occupancy rates at Greenbrier County lodging properties, thus, suitable projects must promote visitor attendance and target markets outside of a 50-mile radius. The CVB reimburses 100 percent of the approved marketing expenses up to the total amount awarded.

The CVB awarded over $15,000 in the winter round of mini-grants and the recipients included the Greenbrier Historical Society, Greenbrier Valley Bicycle Club, City of Lewisburg, Alderson Quilters and Crafters, Lewisburg Downtown Business Association, Main Street Ronceverte, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, Carnegie Hall, Lewisburg Literary Group, WV Dandelion Festival and Lewisburg Chocolate Festival.

To ensure that all proposed expenses can be reimbursed, the CVB recommends that any group applying this summer attend the training program on June 9, as the application deadline is July 6, at 5 p.m.
