Lewisburg, WV – Two Greenbrier County entities were nominated in Blue Ridge Outdoor magazine’s annual “Best of the Blue Ridge” Contest and both claimed the highest honor. The Greenbrier was named the Best Luxury Outdoor Destination and Alderson’s Greenbrier River Campground won for the Best Campground.
The Greenbrier prevailed over the Biltmore Estate and The Omni Grove Park Inn, both in North Carolina. The resort was noted for its established amenities such as golf, tennis and the casino and praised for its more off-the-beaten-path pursuits such as canopy tours and guided biking and hiking outings.
The Greenbrier River Campground beat out Virginia neighbor, Douthat State Park, and Deep Creek Campground in North Carolina. The campground was described as having a “family-friendly atmosphere” and a variety of lodging options from tents and cabins to a vintage 1964 Shasta camper.
Blue Ridge Outdoors is a sports and outdoor adventure magazine covering 10 states in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Their “Best of the Blue Ridge” is an annual, online contest where voters select the leading businesses and locations providing the top mountain experiences.
