Lewisburg, WV- The Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) was recognized with five Crystal Awards and one Honorable Mention by the Public Relations Society of America West Virginia Chapter at the organization’s Annual Awards Gala on June 14. The Crystal Awards gala, held annually in Charleston, WV, honors the most outstanding public relations and communications work in West Virginia for the prior year.
The CVB was recognized with top honor Crystal Awards for its Crisis Campaign Tourism & Recovery - Supporting the Greenbrier Valley 2016 for its communications actions and response following 2016 flood. Additionally, the CVB received top honors for components of its “Simply Getaway” campaign in the following categories:

Best Written Article
Best Audio Commercials (Audio or Web)
Best Short-form Video
The Greenbrier County CVB also received an Honorable Mention award for its integrated “Simply Getaway,” campaign which was launched in September 2016. The campaign, which was funding by a loan from the Greenbrier County Commission, was designed to bolster and support the economic engine of tourism throughout Greenbrier County. The campaign was launched in two phases including both fall and spring campaigns designed to bolster visits to the area and support the messages of recovery throughout the county.
“Last June, throughout Greenbrier County, we faced our greatest challenge,” said Kara D. Dense, Executive Director, Greenbrier County CVB. “However, through our valuable partnerships and the strongest commitment to maintaining our critical travel and tourism industry, people are returning to visit. Tourism is a vital component of our regional economy and to be recognized for our communications and outreach efforts is outstanding.”
The Greenbrier County CVB accepted honors along with its agency of record, Fahlgren Mortine, and partner GuardianBridge LLC.
