Bold splashes of colors and intricate mosaics cover the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center walls during June. “Learning to See” by Wendy Reagor and “Welcome to Collagemahall” by Diane Hall are the featured Art in the Valley exhibits opening at 5 p.m., June 4, during Lewisburg’s First Fridays After Five.
A former fashion illustrator and shoe designer, Reagor now focuses on abstract mixed media with vibrant colors. The freestyle form allows her to play with the painting and adapt as she pleases. Time focusing on the canvas provides meditation as shapes and splatters morph into art.
“The search for beauty from chaos reminds me to continue this search in the real world,” said Reagor.
She and her husband Craig share a space at Lee Street Studios in Lewisburg.
Diane Hall started her career in pottery and weaving. After decades of studio work, she now works with mosaics and jewelry. Hall’s sharp attention to detail is often reflected in her work. Hall’s art has been featured at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg and high-end restaurants in North Carolina.
The Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center began the Art in the Valley exhibit in 2014 to highlight local artists. Each month the gallery space features new artists, with an opening during First Fridays After Five.
