Lake Sherwood Recreation Area

Tucked in a quiet corner of the Monongahela National Forest, Lake Sherwood is a 165-acre mountain oasis revered for its swimming, fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding opportunities. Come equipped with picnic-fixings and wile away the afternoon on the lake’s only island -- connected to the “mainland” by an arched walking bridge.

COVID-19 UPDATE 06.16.20: The West Shore camping loop in Lake Sherwood Recreation Area will open June 25. Other services are limited due to water shortages in the Lake Sherwood well. The boat launch and boating and fishing on the lake are open. All other facilities, including other camping loops beyond West Shore, the picnic area, swimming beach and all restrooms, are closed. They hope to open Cales Knoll camping loop and the beach later this summer, but the well issue will have to improve to service the bathroom facilities.

You may access availability on their site, but it's best to call the Marlinton ranger station for up-to-date information--304-799-4334.

Boat rentals are currently unavailable. When we are notified of new information, we will post it here.
