Winter Rendezvous

The winter blues don’t stand a chance in the Greenbrier Valley. Make it a weekend with the girls, an overnight date with your favorite someone or a getaway the whole family can enjoy.

Take a look at this sampling of ways to get a grip on old man winter.

Downtown Lewisburg regularly tops must-see lists from around the country. Pick up a hot toddy from The Wild Bean and take an afternoon to poke around the artsy shops, galleries and museums.

Warm your insides with a tasting tour of the valley’s fine craft beverage-making operations. Learn what grain-to-glass is all about while enjoying a round or two of small-batch sipping. Smooth Ambler Spirits ~ Hawk Knob Hard Cider & Mead.

In the mood for a show? Carnegie Hall is a cultural center for arts and education with an annual series of live performances, independent films and gallery exhibits. Greenbrier Valley Theatre is the state professional theatre of West Virginia. This versatile space plays host to live theatre, music and art events.

Carnegie Hall is one of only four in operation worldwide.

Go on a self-guided excursion at Lost World Caverns, and descend 120 feet below the Earth's surface into a vast chamber filled with stalactites and stalagmites. The walking tour is a half-mile loop that takes about 45 minutes. Be sure to stop in the natural history museum to see prehistoric artifacts "unearthed" in 1967!

Inside the Lost World Caverns

It’s easy to plan what to wear on a caving excursion. Under the earth’s surface, it’s a constant 52 degrees every day of the year.

The Greenbrier dates back to 1778. Its long history is part of its allure, but it’s the 10,000 acres of activities that make it worth the trip.

An underground hideaway built for Congress, the declassified Cold War Bunker was equipped with House and Senate chambers, dorms, power plant, clinic, cafeteria… even a decontamination area. Step through the 18-ton blast door to learn its secrets and how it was kept hidden for more than 30 years.

Take a spin on The Greenbrier’s ice skating rink, featuring lights, music and a rink-side fire pit.

Explore the sprawling grounds and winter landscape at the leisurely pace of a horse-drawn carriage -- or sleigh ride. The 18th-century-style-outing encompasses The Old White Golf Course and circles back to the North Entrance of the hotel.

There would be no Greenbrier if not for the historical significance and notable benefits of White Sulphur Springs’ healing waters. The resort’s Mineral Spa originates from that reputation, offering treatments and therapies to soothe and rejuvenate, including, of course, a soak in the famous sulphur waters.
