The Cake Box

In the Greenbrier Valley, the sweetest of delights are a bit of an art form, with one bakery taking the cake. Aptly named The Cake Box, its proprietors affectionately refer to it as a “sweet celebration shop” filled with sugar and sparkles. Front and center, a spinning carousel of giant cupcakes, crowned with swirls of frosting. Sweet dogs, plates of cookies and gourmet cotton candy. And a recent fan favorite, the crookie—a chocolate chip cookie baked inside a golden, flaky croissant.

If you prefer to sip your sweets, order up two straws and share a classic, creamy milkshake. After all, it’s not just any milkshake. Three generous cups of smooth vanilla soft-serve, whole milk and your choice of syrups go into this sweet concoction, topped by a generous dollop of real whipped cream.

On cooler days, you can’t go wrong with the hot chocolate—a luscious medley of cocoa, ground chocolate and cream. Or a spiced Chai made with freshly ground cardamom, Indian black tea, whole milk and plenty of warm spices.

Their other specialty… made-to-order cakes with a myriad of flavors inside and out. Traditional cakes and cookie cakes, cotton candy cakes and ice cream cakes. Unique designs, too.
