Alderson's Annual Tribute to Bricktop

Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 5-7pm

Alderson Main Street will host its annual "Tribute to Bricktop" on August 16th at 5:00pm at the Alumni Park Gazebo (Railroad Avenue & South Monroe St.). This event is FREE to the public and is held in memory of jazz singer and entertainer Ada Beatrice Queen Victoria Louise Virginia Smith, better known as "Bricktop," who was born in Alderson in 1894.

Music of Bricktop's era -- the 1920's and 30's -- will be presented by: Birch Graves, John Maddy, Evan Olds & Tim Pyne with script and vocals by Cathey Sawyer and featuring Adrienne Biesemeyer as Bricktop interpreter -- arranged by Kermit Medsker.

Alderson Artisans Gallery will be open before the concert and during intermission. Attendees are asked to bring their own chair and settle in for a wonderful evening.
