White Sulphur Springs Prepares for The Greenbrier Classic

The village of White Sulphur Springs is abuzz with activity as the countdown for The Greenbrier Classic continues. With a month remaining until this landmark tournament, the community is busily preparing for the influx of visitors to the area.

A number of new businesses have opened within the past few months, from The Diner on the Green to The Village Golf Outlet. Grady’s Scoop is the newest ice cream shop in town, and The Buzz Inn is the latest one-stop shop for snacks, drinks and take-out lunch.

Construction continues at 50 East Main Street where a casual dining and spirits restaurant is set to open July 3. The restaurant, named 50 East, will feature a wide variety of soups, salads and entrees.

“Our resort village is excited about the upcoming Greenbrier Classic, and we are anxiously awaiting visitors to our area,” said Sadie Fraley, Director of White Sulphur Springs Main Street. “Preparations continue to further beautify the village both inside merchants’ stores and outside on our streets. We look forward to the opportunity to show guests the Spa City’s small town charm and southern hospitality.”

Eclectic jewelry, handcrafted artwork, Christmas collectibles, home décor and antiques are just a sampling of the unique items you will find in White Sulphur Springs’ shops. Restaurants offer everything from down-home country cooking to specialty pizzas to gourmet lunches and retail wine.

Known as the southern “Queen of the Watering Places” for its natural springs that attracted wealthy southerners during the first half of the nineteenth century, the Spa City has been a preferred destination for royalty and nobles alike. Add to that the convenience of the railroad, the world-renown Greenbrier resort and the picturesque Allegheny Mountains, and it is no wonder that this charming area, designated as a member of Main Street West Virginia, is a favorite among many.

Visit this quaint village during The Greenbrier Classic or at any time during the year to experience its charm and welcoming community.
