Lewisburg, WV (October 1, 2007) The State Fair of West Virginia was recently selected by the American Bus Association (ABA) as one of the Top Events for group tours in 2008.
“We are honored to have been selected for this award,” said Marlene Pierson-Jolliffe, Manager of the State Fair of WV. “It is a testament to the work of our staff and hundreds of volunteers who work so hard to carry on the traditions of this wonderful event and keep it true to its mission of agriculture, education and family entertainment.”
The Top 100 Events in North America began in 1982 as a way for motorcoach operators to incorporate new product into their itineraries. It has grown into one of the most sought-after lists by travel professionals, motorcoach operators and the general public each year.
Nominations must be received by ABA members and the State Fair was nominated by the Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau in May of 2007.
“This recognition is not only positive for the State Fair, but also for the entire county,” said CVB Executive Director, Kara Dense. “It tells tour operators that Greenbrier County is a great destination for their groups.”
Each year this important list highlights the top festivals, fairs, celebration, parades and exhibits in North America. The 2008 Top 100 list also includes events such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Florida Strawberry Festival and the College National Rodeo Finals in Wyoming.
