Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center Opens Today
Lewisburg, WV (July 22, 2010) – The Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center officially opens today. The new facility, located at 200 W. Washington Street in downtown Lewisburg, provides regional information for Greenbrier, Pocahontas, Monroe and Summers Counties.
“This is an exciting day for us,” said Kara Dense, Executive Director of the CVB. “We are thrilled to welcome visitors and local residents to this amazing facility and show them all that our region has to offer.”
Hundreds of brochures are displayed in the Center along with maps, exhibits and an interactive kiosk. Flat-screen televisions provide weather, news and sports updates. For guests wanting to access the internet, three computers are available for use.
A stage in one corner of the 7,500-square foot space allows for performances to take place during special events like Friday Fridays After 5. A future retail area will sell Greenbrier Valley-logoed items along with drinks and other traveling staples.
The Center is open Monday through Saturday, 9am to 6pm and Sunday noon to 5pm. For special events, like The Greenbrier Classic, the Visitors Center will be open from 9am to 9pm daily.
An official ribbon-cutting will take place on Tuesday, September 7 at 11am with Congressman Nick Rahall present. Congressman Rahall was instrumental in securing a $544,000 grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to fund this project.
