CVB to Celebrate National Tourism Week with Second Annual Greenbrier County Tourism Summit

Lewisburg, W.Va. (April 23, 2008) The Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) will host the second annual county-wide Tourism Summit on May 14 to recognize National Tourism Week.
“This year’s event is all about the importance of tourism in Greenbrier County and the role the CVB plays to promote the area,” said Kara Dense, CVB Executive Director. “With an educational focus, the Summit will cover marketing techniques and business strategies designed specifically for the tourism industry in light of the uncertainty of today’s economy.”
This one-day event is designed for tourism partners and will take place at the Cecil H. Underwood Youth Center on the grounds of the State Fair of WV beginning at 10:00am until 2:00pm.
This year’s summit will feature keynote speaker Berkeley Young with Young Strategies out of Charlotte, NC. With more than 20 years of experience in travel and tourism research, Young will discuss current travel trends, while highlighting tips on how to make a business successful in light of the current economy.
Other presentations will include the unveiling of the new Greenbrier County website by Paramoredd Online Marketing, as well as an update on marketing efforts from the WV Division of Tourism.
National Tourism Awareness Week, May 10-18, is an annual event sponsored by the Travel Industry Association (TIA) and commemorated by states, cities and organizations across the nation.
