Event Description

Type of Event: Plays

GVT will present Nevermore on October 29 & 30. The mystery surrounding Edgar Allen Poe’s death and his final days are the inspiration behind this enthralling and deeply human musical. In a dream-like manner, Nevermore is a biographical sketch that uses the author’s own words to examine his relationships with the women in his life, revealing the emotional life that helped create one of America’s literary giants.

It’s October, 1849; Poe is ill, frequently drunk, and close to death. In his extended dream he suffers the visions of his young cousin and bride, Virginia; his lifelong paramour, Elmyra; his stepmother, Muddy; and the ghost of his own mother. The evening is an intense excursion into madness that somehow remains intensely human.

Theatrical performances are at 113 E. Washington Street at 7:30 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays; 8:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays; and 3:00 PM matinees on Saturdays and Sundays. Times are subject to change without written notice. Please confirm times when making your reservations. Times for youth productions vary.

Call the GVT Box Office at (304) 645-3838, 1 – 5pm, Monday – Friday, for more information.
