GVT will present Nevermore on November 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 & 13. The mystery surrounding Edgar Allen Poe’s death and his final days are the inspiration behind this enthralling and deeply human musical. In a dream-like manner, Nevermore is a biographical sketch that uses the author’s own words to examine his relationships with the women in his life, revealing the emotional life that helped create one of America’s literary giants.

It’s October, 1849; Poe is ill, frequently drunk, and close to death. In his extended dream he suffers the visions of his young cousin and bride, Virginia; his lifelong paramour, Elmyra; his stepmother, Muddy; and the ghost of his own mother. The evening is an intense excursion into madness that somehow remains intensely human.

Theatrical performances are at 113 E. Washington Street at 7:30 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays; 8:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays; and 3:00 PM matinees on Saturdays and Sundays. GVT will present Death of a Salesman on October 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 & 16.

In America today, life isn’t much easier for most people than it was when Arthur Miller wrote Death of a Salesman, so his ode to the human need for dignity still resonates. At its wounded heart this is a play about a family adrift. Willy Loman, a failing salesman, cannot grasp his failure to achieve the “American Dream” of financial success and happiness. Through a series of tragic soul-searching revelations of the life he has lived and of his illusions, we discover how his quest for the “American Dream” kept him blind to the people who truly loved him. This classic American drama is a profound work of deep and revealing beauty that remains an icon of the American theatre.

Theatrical performances are at 113 E. Washington Street at 7:30 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays; 8:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays; and 3:00 PM matinees on Saturdays and Sundays.
