Battle of Lewisburg Living History and Reenactment

Event Description

Type of Event: Fairs & Festivals

Bring the family for an exciting weekend set back in Civil War times at the Battle of Lewisburg Living History & Reenactment. Most events will take place on the Campus of the New River Community & Technical College, located in historic downtown Lewisburg.

Meet and mingle with President Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, General Robert E. Lee, General Ulysses S. Grant and other humble personages. Scenarios and events include the first meeting of Fredrick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, a gathering with General Lee and his Lieutenants, join the residents trying to escape from Lewisburg by Lantern on the battle eve and much more. The skirmish will take place at 4pm on Saturday, followed by an ambulance that will carry wounded soldiers to the field hospital for treatment. Live demonstrations. Battle reenactment will take place on Sunday along Washington Street at 2pm.
