Visit by Train

Greenbrier County, West Virginia is accessible by train with Amtrak service offered three days a week throughout the year.

The Amtrak Cardinal Route (New York City - Penn Station (NYP) to Chicago - Union Station (CHI)) stops in White Sulphur Springs and Alderson, WV.  In both cases you will need to purchase tickets in advance, as ticketing services are not available at either station.  The train will only stop at the Alderson Station, known as a whistle-stop station, on signal or with advance notice to the conductor.

The Cardinal line offers a dining car and lounge, however, there is no checked baggage service available.

White Sulphur Springs Station - located in downtown White Sulphur Springs, directly across from the main entrance to The Greenbrier resort.  Prior reservations required.

  • West-bound Schedule:
    Sun., Wed., Fri. - 5:00 pm
  • East-bound Schedule:
    Sun., Wed., Fri. - 11:25 am

Alderson Station - located in downtown Alderson.  Prior reservations required, as the train will not stop unless notified beforehand.

  • West-bound Schedule:
    Sun., Wed., Fri. - 5:31 pm
  • East-bound Schedule:
    Sun., Wed., Fri. - 10:53 am
