Kara Dense, Executive Director
Kara Dilley Dense is Executive Director of the Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau. With 19 years of experience in the travel industry, Kara has enjoyed success in several facets of the industry. She began her tenure at GCCVB in February 2007.
Kara is a 1995 honor graduate of Concord University with a Bachelor of Science in Travel Industry Management with a concentration in Tourism Planning, Development and Promotion. She’s held positions with Visit WV, Knoxville Symphony Society, Louise Mandrell Theatre, Park Vista Resort and the City of Gatlinburg’s Department of Tourism.
In September of 2000, Kara became the 21st person in the state of Tennessee to achieve the status of Certified Tennessee Tourism Professional by the Tennessee Tourism Roundtable. She recently completed Southeast Tourism Society’s 3-year Marketing College program and was awarded the Travel Marketing Professional diploma in March 2015.
Since joining the Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau in 2007, she has led the organization in many changes and successes. In 2008, the CVB rebranded the county as the Greenbrier Valley. Kara spearheaded the organization’s capitol project of a regional visitors center which opened in summer of 2010. She also led the campaign that awarded Lewisburg the “Coolest Small Town in America” accolade by Budget Travel Magazine.
Kara has held several leadership positions in the tourism industry, including representing West Virginia on the Southeast Tourism Society’s Board of Directors. She served as Vice President, President and currently Treasurer of the West Virginia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus. Kara represents CVBs on the board of the West Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association. In addition to her professional contributions, she is involved in her community and serves on the board of Lewisburg Rotary and was just elected to the board of Greenbrier Valley Theatre where she has previously performed.
She was awarded the Generation Next award by the State Journal in 2010 and named one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Forty for the Future in 2012.
Kara makes her home in Lewisburg with her husband, Brian, and daughter, Lily.
Beth Gill, Marketing Manager
Beth Gill comes to the CVB from ACE Adventure Resort in Fayette County where she was the Marketing Director. She brings over a decade of direct experience to this position including five years on the New River Gorge CVB board.
She oversees all marketing strategies in an effort to increase visitorship to Greenbrier County. She is responsible for all direct advertising, the CVB website, lead and database inquiries and the email newsletter. She also works with Greenbrier County's tourism partners through the mini-grant program and other marketing opportunities provided by the CVB. Beth holds a B.A. in Graphic Design from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.
Kristi Godby, Media Relations Manager
Kristi Godby was a credit analyst at a local bank with many years of volunteer work in the community. She is Treasurer of the United Way of Greenbrier Valley, worked with Greenbrier County on the Move and Greenbrier County Communities in Schools, among others. She was a Magna Cum Laude Honors Program graduate from Eastern Kentucky University, graduating with a B.S. is Psychology and a minor in English. She has an MBA, with technology and management emphasis, from West Virginia University.
Kristi's is responsible for the CVB’s social media presence. She manages all media relations and travel writers to promote Greenbrier County as a premier travel destination.
Delilah Dixon, Office Manager
Delilah Dixon is a Greenbrier County native who came to the CVB after working 10 years in the human resources department of The Greenbrier. While there, she administered the health, vacation, pension and 401(k) plans for approximately 1,700 active employees and the retirement benefit payments for over 700 retirees. Delilah holds an Associates Degree in Office Administration from National Business College in Roanoke, Virginia.
In her role as Office Manager, Dixon facilitates all the Bureau's accounts receivable and payable as well as payroll and benefits. She is also responsible for managing the Visitors Center staff and the day-to-day functions of the office while supporting Board, management and committee endeavors.
Mary Cole Deitz, Visitors Center Manager
Mary Cole Deitz is a Greenbrier County native and came to the CVB from The Greenbrier where she worked for 29 years in retail and concierge services. She holds a B.S. from West Virginia University.
Mary Cole and her staff welcome all visitors to the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center. In addition, she oversees events at the center, the CVB's meeting rental space, the "Art in the Valley" program, brochure distribution and welcome packets.
